What is BMI?

By dividing your weight by your height, BMI calculates the weight range that you currently fit in, whether you’re ‘underweight’, a ‘healthy’ weight, ‘overweight’, or ‘obese’ for your height. BMI is often used to help medical professionals assess the risk for chronic disease within a patient. Please note: your BMI works solely on weight and cannot tell you whether you are carrying too much fat, as it cannot tell the difference between excess fat, muscle or bone.
