El Gran Combo De Puerto Rico Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴Cual prisionera perpetua
te encontré atada al fracaso
y creyendo en tus promesas de amor
yo te refugié en mis brazos.
Recuerdo que al encontrarte
llorabas desesperada
el dolor y la amargura mujer
Y hoy que tienes otra vida
ya te sientes liberada
terminó la pesadilla mujer
de tu vida fracasada.
No cumples con tus promesas de amor
de aquello no queda nada
y olvidaste al carcelero mujer
que preparó tu escapada.
Mas no te guardo rencor
pues fui muy feliz contigo
solo, solo me queda el dolor
que no lo fuiste conmigo.
Y si acaso he sido en ti
un trampolín de piscina
espero haberte servido mujer
y que sea feliz tu vida
espero haberte servido mujer
y que sea feliz tu vida.
(Trampolín de tu amor mujer ingrata)
yo que tanto te quería
yo que todo te lo daba
(trampolin de tu amor mujer ingrata)
pronto se llegará tu fin
me usastes como trampolín, mulata
(trampolín de tu amor mujer ingrata)
que mala pata
que mala pata
que mala pata que eres tú
(trampolín de tu amor mujer ingrata)
pero hoy
pero hoy
pero hoy
pero hoy yo te cierro la puerta
la cierro en tu propia cara, óyela!
(Trampolín de tu amor mujer ingrata)
y hoy ya tienes otra vida
ya te sientes liberada
(trampolín de tu amor mujer ingrata)
me acuerdo cuando estabas de rodillas
te sentías fracasada
(trampolín de tu amor mujer ingrata)
ya, ya no te guardo rencor
ya tu cuenta está saldada
Overall Meaning
In Trampolin, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico tells the story of a woman who has been tied to failure like a perpetual prisoner. The singer, who believed in her promises of love, took her in his arms to provide shelter from the world. He recalls finding her in a state of desperation and tears, after all of the pain and bitterness of her failed life as a woman. However, she has now moved on to another life and feels liberated, leaving behind her nightmare of a failed life.
Despite his unfulfilled promises of love, the singer does not hold a grudge against her because he was very happy with her. However, he is left with the pain of not having been fulfilled by her as he had hoped. If his role in her life has been that of a swimming pool trampoline, he hopes to have served her well and wishes her a happy life. Here we see the singer accepting that he has been used by his lover to escape the sadness and oppressiveness of her life, but instead of resentment or anger, he only wishes her good things.
Trampolin is a love song, but not a conventional one, as it tells a story of a woman seemingly leaving her past life behind and moving on to another life, accepting her past, and her past relationship with someone else. It reminds listeners that people come into our lives for many different reasons, but it is ultimately up to us to learn and grow from those experiences, for better or for worse.

Cual prisionera perpetua
te encontré atada al fracaso
y creyendo en tus promesas de amor
yo te refugié en mis brazos.
I found you like a perpetual prisoner
chained to failure
believing in your promises of love
I took you under my wings.
Recuerdo que al encontrarte
llorabas desesperada
el dolor y la amargura mujer
de tu vida fracasada.
I remember when I found you,
crying frantically
the pain and bitterness of a failed life, woman.
Y hoy que tienes otra vida
ya te sientes liberada
terminó la pesadilla mujer
de tu vida fracasada.
And today that you have a new life,
you feel free
the nightmare of your past life, woman,
has ended.
No cumples con tus promesas de amor
de aquello no queda nada
y olvidaste al carcelero mujer
que preparó tu escapada.
You didn't keep your promises of love,
nothing is left of them.
And you forgot, woman,
the jailor who prepared your escape.
Mas no te guardo rencor
pues fui muy feliz contigo
solo, solo me queda el dolor
que no lo fuiste conmigo.
But I don't hold grudges,
I was very happy with you.
Only, only the pain remains
that you didn't reciprocate with me.
Y si acaso he sido en ti
un trampolín de piscina
espero haberte servido mujer
y que sea feliz tu vida
espero haberte servido mujer
y que sea feliz tu vida.
And if I have been to you
like a swimming pool trampoline
I hope I served you well, woman
and that your life is happy.
I hope I served you well, woman
and that your life is happy.
(Trampolín de tu amor mujer ingrata)
yo que tanto te quería
yo que todo te lo daba
(trampolin de tu amor mujer ingrata)
pronto se llegará tu fin
me usastes como trampolín, mulata
(Trampoline of your ungrateful love)
I who loved you so much,
I who gave you everything.
(Trampoline of your ungrateful love)
Soon your end will come,
you used me as a trampoline, mulatto.
(Trampolín de tu amor mujer ingrata)
que mala pata
que mala pata
que mala pata que eres tú
(trampolín de tu amor mujer ingrata)
pero hoy
pero hoy
pero hoy
pero hoy yo te cierro la puerta
la cierro en tu propia cara, óyela!
(Trampoline of your ungrateful love)
What bad luck,
what bad luck
you are the bad luck.
(Trampoline of your ungrateful love)
But today,
but today,
but today,
today I shut the door on your face
I slam it on your face, hear me!
(Trampolín de tu amor mujer ingrata)
y hoy ya tienes otra vida
ya te sientes liberada
(trampolín de tu amor mujer ingrata)
me acuerdo cuando estabas de rodillas
te sentías fracasada
(trampolín de tu amor mujer ingrata)
ya, ya no te guardo rencor
ya tu cuenta está saldada
(Trampoline of your ungrateful love)
And today you have a new life,
you feel liberated.
(Trampoline of your ungrateful love)
I remember when you were on your knees,
feeling like a failure.
(Trampoline of your ungrateful love)
Now, I don't hold grudges anymore,
your account is settled.
