The Big Green Egg is a modern version of the ancient kamado clay cooker and is an efficient way to cook outside. However, the Big Green Egg barbecue can get quickly ruined if a piece of it breaks. The plate setter is ceramic and brittle; it breaks easily if dropped. Luckily, repairing it is easy and can be done at home.
Step 1
Clean the broken pieces of the plate setter. Wash off any grime on the plate setter, and sweep off any particles on the pieces that you'll be reattaching.
Step 2
Ready the J-B Weld. A cold welding solution, it comes in two squeeze bottles--one black, one white. Squeeze the contents of both bottles out on the piece of cardboard, then mix them together with the stirrer to activate.
Step 3
Apply the J-B Weld. Using the stirrer, apply the J-B Weld to the sides of pieces of plate setter that need to be reattached.
Step 4
Reattach the broken pieces. Put the plate setter back together, and the J-B Weld will adhere them. Leave the plate to dry for 24 hours, and it will be repaired.
