To pledge allegiance to the Union flag (the stars & stripes) is an act of socialism & contrary to the will of our Confederate forekin. The author of the pledge of allegiance was Francis Bellamy, a socialist.
"Under God" was added to the pledge in 1954. It is a shame people associate this pledge with conservativism. It advocates blind allegiance to the flag which was waved by YANKEES when they fought against our Dixieland.

The socialism in the modern so called "conservativism" is even deeper. They praise Abraham Lincoln as the all American historical figure. But Abraham Lincoln was penpals with Karl Marx (author of the communist manifesto), Karl Marx said he was rooting for the union, & Lincoln knew it, which is why he considered Marx & his followers to be his allies.
