Tom Hall car accident & obituary: Local Restaurant Owner Identified As Victim In Fatal Richland County Crash

Tom Hall, owner of the popular local restaurant Between the Antlers, has been identified as the victim in a fatal single-vehicle collision late Saturday night in Richland County.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that a pickup truck was involved in the deadly crash on Saturday that claimed one life. According to Cpl. Tyler Tidwell, the collision involving a single vehicle occurred in Richland County around 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 20.

According to Tidwell, the driver of a 2010 Ford F-150 was traveling eastbound on Bluff Road when the truck veered off the right side of the roadway. Tidwell said the truck turned onto US 601/McCords Ferry Road and overturned. The location was not far from Columbia, near Eastover.

Tidwell said the driver died at the scene. The identity of the driver has not yet been released by the Richland County Coroner’s Office. According to Tidwell, no other injuries were reported and the truck driver was the sole occupant of the pickup.

It was not mentioned if the driver was wearing a seatbelt. It is unclear what may have caused the pickup to veer off Bluff Road.

The deceased victim has been unofficially identified as Between the Antlers owner, Tom Hall. Between the Antlers is a popular local restaurant in Georgetown, South Carolina.

“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of founder Tom Hall. He died last night in a car accident. Our entire Antler family is devastated and there are no words to describe our profound sorrow. In the coming days please pray for Amy and the entire family,” Between the Antlers announced in a social media post.

The Highway Patrol did not indicate if the collision is still under investigation.

Hall was a pillar of the Georgetown community and known for his charitable efforts in addition to owning the popular restaurant on Front Street. He was an avid supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project and hosted numerous fundraising events over the years.

Hall opened Between the Antlers in 2009 after moving to Georgetown from Upstate New York. He fell in love with the waterfront town after visiting regularly since the 1990s. Hall quickly became ingrained in the fabric of the Georgetown community.

In addition to the restaurant, Hall owned a bait and tackle shop right next door. His passions were fishing, hunting, supporting veterans, and serving his faithful customers.

Hall is survived by his wife Amy and two adult children. Funeral arrangements are pending. Between the Antlers remains closed for now as the staff mourns the tragic loss of their beloved owner and leader.
