Patrick and Ketanji are parents to two daughters. The couple welcomed their first daughter, Talia, in 2001 after Ketanji joined Patrick in Boston. Their second daughter came four years later and they named her Leila.

In her speech during the Supreme Court selection, Ketanji described her daughters as the light of her life.
